Winter in Alagna

Skiing, off-piste, snowboard, ski touring – Alagna has everything that a skier can wish for.
The width of the mountain attracts everyone from the advanced skier to families.
Alagna was appointed to Italy's best ski resort by the Swedish magazine Åka Skidor, and we can only agree! If you want tips about slopes or help to book ski school or guide for freeride, we'd be more than happy to help you.

 

Ski system

From Hotel Monterosa it's only 100 meters to the cableway, which takes you to Pianalunga. From there, you can continue with the cabin lift, which takes you up to Passo Salati, 2 971 meters AMSL. In Passo Salati, the skiing opens up to neighbouring Gressoney and Champoluc, which together with Alagna forms the ski system Monterosa Ski.

Off-piste

For you who like off-piste skiing, Alagna is the dream, and it's not without reason that Alagna is called Freeride Paradise. From Passo Salati, you can take the cabin lift to the mountain station Indren at 3 275 meters, where steep couloirs and open areas with untracked powder awaits! For example, choose La Malfatta, and you have a day of wonderful off-piste skiing and a fall height at 2 300 meters before you. If you want even bigger challenges, there are unlimited possibilities through heli-skiing.

Summer in Alagna

If you like an active summer vacation, then Alagna is the place for you! In the 19th century, people started develop the area's trails, and today here is everything between easier mountain climbing to advanced alpinism. Walk on your own or get help from one of the region's skilled guides, who customise the trips according to your wishes.  Don´t hesitate to contact us for further information.

Hiking

With Hotel Monterosa as a base, you can follow several hiking trails through beautiful valleys, up into the mountains to cozy restaurants for lunch. There are hikes to suit all levels. To access the higher altitudes just take the gondola up to 2950m and from here you have amazing views over the Alps. Maybe stay overnight at a refuge and came back down to Alagna the next day. We know the area and the hiking paths and will help you find suitable trails.

Adventure at higher altitudes

Il Corpo Guide Alagna was founded in 1872 and has about 40 skilled guides, which you can book for an experience suited to you. Maybe you would like to take on the challenge to reach Capanna Margherita, the highest refuge in Europe at 5559m. This is a two-days adventure with one overnight at Refugio Gnifetti at 3647m. You will walk over two glaciers to reach the top. You can rent all the equipment you need here in Alagna. This is a true experience we really recommend! We will help you to make the reservation.

Via Ferrata

If you want to try mountain climbing in a safe way, Via Ferrata is easily accessible fromAlagna. There are different difficulties to choose from, and the climbing can be customised so that even a younger participant can come along.

Mountain biking & E-biking

Mountain biking and especially e-biking is popular in Alagna and the Valsesia area, with many tours to choose from. You decide the limits for the adventure – slow pace in a natural setting or straight downhill in breakneck speed. E-bikes gives a fantastic opportunity to access the mountains of Valsesia with the latest e-bikes available. To go with a n experienced guide is highly recommended as they know all the paths and will costumize the day after your skills and wishes.

Rafting and canyoning

Alagna and the Valsesia valley offer many activities in the summer. Take part in exhilarating tours with both canoe and rafting in the Sesia river, high up in the beautiful Valsesia river.

If you haven't tried canyoning before, here's the opportunity to walk up the mountain with a guide (that teaches basic technique) and then go water sliding in naturally formed furrows in the mountain. There are also many different difficulties, with high jumps and rappelling from cliffs, but also for the ones that want a more calm experience.

Fishing

For the one that wants to go fishing, you can catch trout and brook trout in the Sesia river. There is a very active fishing club, which also works with planting fish in the river.
